The indoor BMX centre, an expansion of the National Cycling Centre, opened in 2011, bringing with it unprecedented BMX opportunities for local, regional and national riders and elite athletes. The centre will host major BMX events attracting riders from all over the world. The home of British Cycling, the country’s top riders train at the centre, including our Olympians. Building on the long term legacy of the 2002 Commonwealth Games the centre adds to the world-class facilities that were established for the games.
Delivery of the BMX centre was the next piece of the jigsaw in the overall Sportscity masterplan concept for East Manchester. Pierre Angulaire acted as both leader in terms of overall delivery and negotiator of complex bespoke procurement and funding arrangements on behalf of MCC.
